To Aiguille du Midi, in few minutes

Aiguille du Midi (12,605 feet / 3842 metres): “Needle of the South” or “Needle of Southern France”.

A few things to consider:
  • Do not miss the ride on tramway/cable car to the highest vertical ascent. Though not recommended for people with heart problems, agoraphobia (fear of open spaces) or severe mountain/altitude sickness.
  • During the peak season, get tramway tickets well in advance.
  • The weather changes moods. Therefore, check the snow report or weather forecast, before planning out the journey.
  • Pack digital or video cameras with UV filters, and binoculars for the panoramic view at the top of Aiguille du Midi. Keep extra camera batteries, ready.
  • People with sun-sensitive skins should not forget to use UV protection creams.
